membership options

Tar Sand Betties offer a variety of different membership options. You can join as a competitive skater, or a recreational skater. You can join as a volunteer or a referee. The choice is all yours!  There are many volunteer positions not listed here. If you are interested in something else, email info@tarsandbetties.com
 
Juniors (ages 5-17)
· Program terms run January-April, March-July, September-December
· Pay $90 dues per term (not including insurance)
 
Fresh Meat (ages 18+)
· Program terms run January-April, September-December
· Pay $200 per term (not including insurance)
 
 

Bout Eligible Skater

Requirements

· Be a member for 3 months, or 1 month if transferring from another league

· Pay $300 dues in April and $300 in October (not including insurance)

· Miss no more than 4 practices a month outside of work/school/child care

· Volunteer at 50% of the events in a year, plus 1 home game

· Sit on at least one committee

· Pass WFTDA benchmark

Benefits

· Can hold a Board of Director position

· Eligible for Team Captain

· Can vote on league decision

· Can play in FMRDL games

· Can play in invitationals
 

Active Skater

Requirements

· Be a member for 3 months, or 1 month if transferring from another league

· Pay $300 dues in April and $300 in October (not including insurance)

· Miss no more than 6 practices a month outside of work/school/child care

· Volunteer at 50% of the events in a year, plus 1 home bout

· Sit on at least one committee

· Pass the Fresh Meat benchmark to participate in Veteran practices

Benefits

· Can hold a Board of Director position

· Can vote on league decision

· Can play in invitationals, if benchmarking requirements set by the host league have been met


Recreational Skater

Requirements

· Pay $300 dues in April and $300 in October (not including insurance)

· Volunteer at 50% of the events in a year, plus 1 home game

· Pass the Fresh Meat benchmark to participate in Veteran practices (must participate in practice once every 2 months to remain benchmarked)

Benefits

· Can play in invitationals, if benchmarking requirements set by the host league have been met


Coach

Requirements

· Pass Fresh Meat benchmark after a reasonable training period, if on skates coach

· Meet requirements in Coaching Contract

· Commit to 11 months as a coach with FMRDL

· Is not a permanent coach with another league

· Pays a $100 deposit fee, refundable after 11 months if requirements have been met

Benefits

· Can play in invitationals, if benchmarking requirements set by the host league have been met

· Does not pay dues

· Can be a skater or referee with another league


Official/Referee

Requirements

· Pass Referee benchmark after a reasonable training period

· Skate as an official for 11 months

· Referee at 50% of FMRDL's home games and away games if possible

· Miss no more than 6 practices a month outside of work/school/child care

· Attend 1 scrimmage each month.

· Pays a $100 deposit fee, refundable after 11 months if requirements have been met

Benefits

· Can play in invitationals, if benchmarking requirements set by the host league have been met

· Does not pay dues

· Has hotel cost for travel partially or fully reimbursed

· Is paid $50 for each home game refereed


Non-Skating Official

Requirements

· Volunteer at FMRDL home games

· Practice with FMRDL for any specific training requirements (varies based on roles)

Benefits

· Does not pay dues

· Does not have to pass any skating skills
